Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal “the Jordanian Coalition for Non-communicable Diseases” is launched
Amman, April 2017 – Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, “the Jordanian Coalition for Non-communicable Diseases” was launched at a private ceremony held at the Amman Chamber of Commerce.
In her keynote speech at the ceremony; Her Highness highlighted the importance of forming a coalition of non-communicable diseases at the national level, in line with the eagerness of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center to work with various civil society organizations and take immediate action in order to find real solutions to combat non-communicable diseases at the local and global levels before it's too late.
The Coalition was formed following the release of the Political Declaration on Non-communicable Diseases adopted by the United Nations General Assembly at the UN’s high-profile meeting on Non-communicable Diseases in 2011, where Princess Ghida Talal of Jordan acted as the Special Envoy on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II. HRH joined world leaders in calling for urgent and immediate action on non-communicable diseases to save the lives of millions of people worldwide.
The coalition attracted some of the most important non-communicable disease organizations, authorities, and experts working to reduce the spread of non-communicable diseases, the world's leading cause of death, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory diseases.
