The King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center Commemorate 20th Anniversary

Amman, October 11th, 2021 – October 11, 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC). On this day in 2001, HRH Princess Ghida Talal was appointed by Royal Decree to serve as Chairperson of KHCF/KHCC’s Board of Trustees. Over the course of the next two decades, KHCC was transformed into a leading cancer center, offering the most advanced treatments delivered through cutting-edge technology.

In her remarks about the occasion, Princess Ghida stated: “I thank His Majesty King Abdullah II for putting his trust in me and giving me the opportunity to found and lead this outstanding Jordanian medical establishment, and I take pride in devoting my life to the fight against cancer, and standing by the side of cancer patients.”

Since its founding, KHCC has established global credibility and the highest standard of care by acquiring international accreditation through the Joint Commission International (JCI) and others, and by forging strategic partnerships with leading hospitals and research centers worldwide, including MD Anderson Cancer Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

KHCC is home to more than 1,500 healthcare specialists and technicians, with its capacity more than doubled in 2017 through a comprehensive expansion project. Research and clinical studies were also increased, including through the launch of the King Hussein Award for Cancer Research to strengthen and celebrate cancer research efforts in the Arab world.

Through the endless support of donors, loyal strategic partners, and brilliant medical minds, KHCC will continue its commitment to its noble cause of providing every cancer patient the best treatment possible.

Looking to KHCC’s future plans, a new branch will be established in Aqaba in the name of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to reduce transportation burdens for cancer patients from southern Jordan.
