KHCF Signs MoU with the Ministry of Education
Amman, April 11, 2022 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Jordan’s Ministry of Education (MoE). The agreement aims to continue supporting the medical treatment costs of the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC)’s cancer patients.
Signing the agreement was Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of KHCF, and HE. Prof. Wajih Owais, Jordan’s Minister of Education and Scientific Research.
The agreement stipulates that the Ministry of education will continue supporting KHCF’s Back to School Program, which aims to enable cancer patients to continue their education while being treated. MoE Teachers are annually assigned to teach and deliver school exams at KHCC. Additionally, KHCF and the Ministry of Education launched this year’s “Piggy Bank Campaign” during Ramadan, which aims to raise money to cover the medical treatment costs of KHCC’s underprivileged cancer patients. Moreover, the Ministry of Education shall continue encouraging schools to maintain the requirements of a smoke-free zone certificate to raise awareness of the importance of a smoke-free environment.
Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish thanked the Ministry of Education for its efforts in supporting KHCF, stating: “We deeply value the ministry’s efforts and stress the importance of this partnership which has been fruitful for years on end, and has been vital to supporting our patients and raising awareness about cancer at the same time”.
