KHCF Concludes Lung Cancer Awareness Campaign Supported by AstraZeneca

The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) concluded the Lung Cancer Awareness Campaign with the slogan “Your smoke hurts my lungs", which was launched during November 2022 with support from AstraZeneca as a gold sponsor. The campaign aimed to spread awareness regarding the risk factors which increase the probability of being diagnosed with lung cancer, its symptoms, and how to prevent it.

The campaign included sport activities and awareness sessions in universities, schools, and local companies, and among medical care providers, with a focus on passive smoking and its effect on society.

Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation stated, “We value AstraZeneca’s support, as lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer around the world. Moreover, passive smoking has become a societal issue that compels us to exert more effort to increase our reach and reduce this widespread scourge that threatens the health of our society.”

On this, Mr. Rami Scandar, Cluster President for Near East and Maghreb, AstraZeneca, said, “We are proud of our strategic partnership that extends over the years with KHCF, which indicates the company’s commitment to supporting the fight against cancer, and establishing a culture of early detection and avoiding the risks of lung cancer. Through this partnership we work on providing comprehensive solutions to limit the risks of lung cancer and to continue to support patients in Jordan.”
