Inauguration of the 14th International Conference of the Jordanian Radiological Society

Amman, April 25, 2024 - Under the patronage and in the presence of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC), the 14th International Conference of the Jordanian Radiological Society was inaugurated, which aimed to exchange expertise among radiologists from various parts of the world.

The opening ceremony honored Princess Ghida in appreciation for her efforts over the years to change the reality of cancer in the Arab world and support Jordanian doctors in their pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Waleed Mahafza, President of the Jordanian Radiological Society and Conference President, noted that the conference was held for three days with the participation of over 400 doctors from across the world. It provided a platform to gather the largest amount of technical information on radiology, and offered an opportunity for attendees to explore the latest advances in radiology. Dr. Mahafza also noted that the conference hosted 45 scientific lectures, including 39 lectures by doctors from the United States, Austria, Italy, Britain, Romania, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, in addition to 6 Jordanian speakers.

Dr. Wisam Shamma, head of the conference’s scientific committee, emphasized that the conference helped to facilitate a significant leap in the already-distinguished level of radiology field in Jordan. During 11 sessions, the latest developments in radiology and its subspecialties in diagnostic radiology were discussed.

HRH Princess Ghida Talal inaugurated a medical exhibition featuring participation from global companies showcasing the latest advancements in medical device technology. Additionally, several workshops were held during the conference, presented by a selection of esteemed doctors and specialists covering various topics such as the use of ultrasound in examining the skeletal structure of the shoulder and hands, elastography, breast imaging using contrast-enhanced mammography, and imaging spinal infections accompanied by a practical application led by experts.
