Carrefour Supports the Efforts of KHCF in Breast Cancer Early Detection Campaign

Amman, 21st October 2020 - In cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and the Jordan Breast Cancer Program, Carrefour Jordan (managed by Majid Al Futtaim) launched a fundraising campaign in conjunction with KHCF’s annual national campaign to encourage screening for early detection of breast cancer, and to support underprivileged women by covering the costs associated with performing mammograms at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).

This campaign marks a continuation of the partnership between Carrefour and KHCF. Since 2012, Carrefour has encouraged their customers to voluntarily add ten piasters to their bills as a donation to KHCF during the holy month of Ramadan to support the Foundation’s annual Zakat campaign.

About this, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamish, Director General of KHCF, stated, “We value the continuous support Carrefour has provided for the campaigns and programs launched by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center [KHCF/KHCC]. We appreciate their wonderful cooperation and excellent demonstration of corporate social responsibility, and we thank them for awakening the spirit of giving among their customers and raising awareness regarding the importance of early detection as a life-saving measure for women.”

Alan Engelbert, Director of Carrefour Jordan, said, "We are committed to supporting our community and we will witness more cooperation and fruitful partnerships in the near future. We encourage our customers to support the cause of the campaign by adding ten piasters to their bills, as a little support can make a big impact and saving lives."

The Jordan Breast Cancer Program operates under the leadership and support of KHCF/KHCC. It organizes many campaigns and activities throughout the year in various governorates across the Kingdom to educate the local community on the importance of early detection.
