Multidisciplinary Clinics

Ensuring Optimal Treatment Decisions for Cancer Patients

The King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) employs a multidisciplinary approach which ensures that every patient receives the highest quality healthcare through a comprehensive treatment plan that is tailored to their unique circumstances and condition. KHCC is the only center in Jordan, and one of only a few in the Arab region, to implement this methodology.

What are multidisciplinary clinics?

Multidisciplinary clinics consist of an integrated team of specialists who meet on a weekly basis to discuss each patient’s case. KHCC’s multidisciplinary teams typically consist of an oncologist who is responsible for the patient’s overall care, a surgical oncologist, a radiation oncology specialist, a nurse, a pharmacist, and psychological and social specialists. Additional specialists join the team as needed, such as gynecologists, dermatologists, dentists, speech therapists, physical and occupational therapists, among others.

This team reviews patient tests, evaluates their cases, and collectively determines the most suitable treatment protocol for each patient. Decisions are made based on a shared consensus rather than individual assessments, allowing for a thorough discussion each detail pertaining to the case, and the incorporation of each team member’s expertise to achieve the best treatment outcomes.

Through this approach, multidisciplinary clinics greatly contribute to the concept of comprehensive care, offering patients seamless management from diagnosis to treatment, with continuous monitoring of their progress.

Our mission is driven by compassion, and we are committed to ensuring that our patients have access to the full extent of our resources and expertise, so that they feel secure and confident that they are in safe hands.
