Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health and reduce your risk of cancer, as smoke contains over 60 cancer-causing chemicals. Around 90% of lung cancer cases in Jordan are caused by smoking. Smoking also causes many other types of cancers including cancers of the mouth, larynx, cervix, pancreas and stomach.
It's never too late to quit smoking. The sooner you quit, the more you lessen your chances of developing cancer and other serious diseases. In fact, no matter how long you've been a smoker, your risk of cancer progressively decreases with time once you've quit for good.
We understand that quitting smoking isn't easy. At KHCC, we regard it as a serious addiction. In fact, nicotine (the chemical in smoke which causes you to be addicted) is ranked 3rd in a list of the most addictive substances, after heroin and cocaine.
